Michigan woman gives eyewitness
report of the Lipstadt trial.

T

here's a big chasm between the
facts of the Deborah Lipstadt libel
trial and the material reported on plain-
tiff David Irving's Web site, according
to a local Jewish agency professional
who spent several days in London
observing the court proceedings.
Jennifer Doeren, assistant director of
the Anti-Defamation League's Michigan
Regional Office in Southfield, stopped
short of calling the 62-year-old British
author a liar. However, she said, his Web
site often quotes statements by the judge
and witnesses on the stand that make it
appear they agree with his assertions. By
her observation, the opposite is true.
