THE ONE & ONLY

Sugayon, whose new spot, Encore
North Park Bistro, in Southfield's
North Park Towers, has made people
happy.
MAIL DEPT. ... `-`I am giving a
benefit (American Cancer Society),
Friday, March 17, and must tell you
about the owner of Excalibur
Banquet Hall, who was kind enough
to let us use his banquet hall for this
event.
"In an age where a majority of
people in the world are so self-
absorbed, and unconcerned with the
troubles of others, this is a wonderful
gesture.
"That a restaurant owner cares
enough about others to extend his
banquet hall, wait staff and employ-
ees to provide this service to me and
the cancer society is a wonderful ges-
ture."
— Irene Slobin

THE NEW WHOLE Foods
Market that recently opened on
Orchard Lake Road and 14 Mile, is
its largest in Michigan ... The chain
is also the nation's biggest natural and
organic food supermarket ... This
newest in the chain has over 35,000
square feet ... including Sperber's
Kosher Gourmet Carry-Out.
HELLO FROM ... Aaron Kerbis
... now living in California ...
phone is (760) 432-0076.
COCO'S KORNER ... "There's
also a 'pet menu' for our dining plea-
sure at L'Ermitage in California. But
if we have special needs or are just
too persnickety, we can have our
meals custom-prepared.
"Also, if people , are too overloaded
with their luggage to bring our toys
along, L'Ermitage has several possibil-
ities, including a 'Bite the Man' toy,
perfect for those pit-bull wannabes."
HOUSEHOLD HINTS ... Cakes
of soap last longer if you unwrap
them and let them dry out a few
weeks before using ... A 100 watt
bulb gives considerably more light
than four 25-watters ... Costs much
less, too ... Save money by making
sure your refrigerator door closes
tightly ... Try closing it on a piece of
paper ... If the paper isn't gripped,
you may need a new gasket ... a very
wise investment ... If the door has
been banged hard or twisted, the
hinges may be off-kilter ... and need
adjustment.
THANKS ... for the many well-
wishes following my recent ice-slip-
ping mishap ... Being laid up in a
hospital and physical-therapy rehab
center is no fun ... But you do get to
meet a lot of wonderful people.
