fume."
BOB RUSSMAN writes ... "I've
been involved with Handicap
Parking Enforcement Volunteers for
almost three years with the Novi
Police Department, and recently
with Farmington Hills. It is a terri-
ble shame that people still continue
to ignore the desperate need for this
enforcement.
"We patrol all of Novi and give
out tickets at $100 each, but the
solution still hasn't been solved. In 2
1/2 years, 600 tickets have been
given out ...
"In Farmington Hills, the fine is
$125 for illegal use of handicap
parking spaces.
"We find many violations, such as
no permit, using someone else's per-
mit and altered permits. We take a
Polaroid picture and write a citation.
We need this when we go to court,
where we have not lost a case.
"Many people merit a handicap
permit, but too many do not need
one. I guess these people are friendly
with their doctors or something to
be able to get a permit.
"If you saw the many people who
have to walk dangerous distances
because some others with no feelings
just about hop, skip and jump to the
same places, you'd see what I mean."
