MACCABI GAMES TRYOUTS

The 2000 Maccabi Games will be held from August 13-18 in Cincinnati, OH and

Richmond, VA for all teams except in-line hockey, which will go to Staten Island, NY

August 20-25. Sites are chosen by the best competition in each sporting event.

Connie Weinberg. He is also the
grandson of the late Obbie
Friedman.
Brad's favorite mitzvah was volun-
teering in Temple Israel's religious
school office. A West Bloomfield
Abbott Middle School student, he
likes hockey, art, snowboarding and
skate boarding.

Lindsay Michelle Goldfaden will
become a bat' mitzvah at Adat
Shalom Synagogue on Saturday,
Feb. 26. Rabbi
Daniel Nevins,
Rabbi Herbert
Yoskowitz and
Cantor Howard
Glantz will lead ser-
vices. Participating
will be Lindsay's
parents, Howard
and Nancy
Goldfaden, sisters Pamela and Julie
and brother Daniel. Proud grand-
parents are Maynard and Greta
Melamed of Shaker Heights, Ohio,
and Judy Goldfaden of West
Bloomfield. Lindsay is also the
granddaughter of the late Jerry
Goldfaden.
Lindsay is a student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield.
Her mitzvah projects included
working at Yad Ezra.

Michael Ross Kaufman will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Friday, Feb. 25,
at Temple Kol Ami.
He is the son of Dr.
Jack and Julie
Kaufman and
brother of Erin.
Proud grandparents
are Hilda and
Harold Fortgang.
He is also the
grandson of the late Irving and
Bertha Kaufman.
Michael is an honor student at
Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, where he plays
floor hockey and works on the year-
book staff. Michael is ranked third
in seven Midwest states for tennis
and he played nationals all last sum-
mer. For his mitzvah projects, he
helped out at Temple Kol Ami,
served Christmas dinner at a
seniors' center and took part in
activities with Jewish Association for
Residential Care. He continues as a
JARC volunteer.

Jenna Ruth Wexler Oates will become
a bat mitzvah on
Friday, Feb. 25, at
Temple Israel. She is
the daughter of
Deborah Wexler and
Joseph Oates and sis-
ter of Sarah.
Granddaughter of
Rebecca Raeder
Wexler, she is also the
grandchild of the late Morris Wexler
and the late Ruth and Joseph Hunter
Oates.
Her most meaningful mitzvah pro-
jects involved making Chanuka baskets
and volunteering at Yad Ezra. A West
Hills Middle School student in
Bloomfield Hills, Jenna enjoys riding
horses, reading and traveling to other
countries. The major portion of her bat
mitzvah training was done at the
Dublin Jewish Progressive
Congregation, while she and her family
lived in Ireland.

Daniel Saul Silverman will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Feb. 26, at
Temple Kol Ami. He is the son of
Sandy and Barry Silverman, brother of
David and Joel and
grandson of Nate
and the late Esther
Deutch and Lynne
and the late Isadore
Silverman.
Daniel is an
honor student at
Berkshire Middle
School in
Birmingham, where he is an adminis-
trator of the Tech Club. He is also a
member of the Boy Scouts and enjoys
skiing and music.
Daniel's mitzvah projects included
volunteering at Safety Town, using the
computer to prepare reminders for the
Temple Kol Ami Book Review Club
and participating in the Jewish
Federation Volunteer Extravaganza.
