Double Shabbat
At Beth Shalom
A double Shabbat celebration will
take place March 31 and April 1 at
Congregation Beth Shalom.
The congregation will participate
in Shabbat Across America on
Friday, March 31, at 6 p.m.
Children will lead Kabbalat Shabbat
services as part of their Shabbaton.
On Saturday, April 1, the chil-
dren will conduct afternoon,
evening and Havdala services;
Havdala will begin at 6 p.m.
A dinner will be served March
31. There is a charge of $15 for
adults, $7 for children, free for chil-
dren under age 3. Vegetarian meals
must be pre-reserved. Paid dinner
reservations are due Friday, March
24.
The Shabbat Across America and
youth Shabbaton celebrations are
sponsored by the Shabbat and

Adat Shalom Hosts
Lecture Series
Rabbi Daniel Nevins will offer dis-
cussions in Adat Shalom
Synagogue's rabbinic lecture series
at 8 p.m. Thursdays, March 9, 16
and 23. He will explore "The Jews
of Asia."
On March 9, Rabbi. Nevins will
discuss Indian Jewry. The following
week he will explore the affinity
between the ancient Chinese town
of Kai-Feng and the modern Jewish
communities of Shanghai and Hong
Kong. He will conclude the series
with a talk about Japan and the
Jews.
On Thursdays, March 30, April 6
and 13, Rabbi Herbert A. Yoskowitz
will conclude the series with "Fo-ur'
Pesach 5760." The series explores
the significance of the number four
in the Haggada. On March 30,
Rabbi Yoskowitz will be joined by
Irwin Alterman, who will show
illustrations from his collection of
haggadot.
The lectures are co-sponsored by
the Adat Shalom Adult Study
Commission and Eilu v'Eilu, a
cooperative learning project of the
local Conservative movement. The
lectures are open to the community
at no charge.
