The Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (MJSHOF)

was founded in 1984 to both honor Jewish individuals

who have distinguished themselves as athletes within

HANK GREENBERG MEMORIAL

GOLF INVITAIONAL

the state of Michigan, and to foster Jewish identity through

athletics. It is patterned after the International Jewish

Sports Hall

of Fame Housed at the Wingate Institute in

Natanya, Israel.

Every year significant funds are raised to support

MJSHOF charitable efforts; local beneficiaries include the

Hank Greenberg Oncology Fund for cancer research at

Sinai Hospital and the Hall of Fame Games for

developmentally disabled individuals. MJSHOF also

contributes to the college tuition for graduating high

school students and sends several youngsters to Fresh

Air Camp.

MJSHOF INDUCTION DINNER

Internationally, the MJSHOF contributes both to the

U.S. Committee Sports for Israel and the Israel Sports

Center for the Disabled and every four years sponsors

athletes in the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

The Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame is housed

at the Jewish community Center in West Bloomfield. The

next time you are there, pause for a moment in the

athletic wing to notice the growing number of plaques

honoring the inductees.

Funds for the Hall are raised through private contribu-

tions, which are tax deductible. For further information,

contact the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
