expert and corn-

German and
Austrian politics.
Dr. Andrei S.
Markovits will speak
on "The Complex
Relationship
between Germans
and Jews" at 7:30

Feb. 23, at the
Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield. His talk
will analyze the political upheaval
occurring in Austria.
The Romanian-born Dr.
Markovits, a professor of politics in
the department of Germanic lan-
guages and literatures at the
University of Michigan, is a specialist
on European politics. Concentrating
on German and Austrian affairs, he's
written on the subject of German-
Jewish relations since the Holocaust.

and birth and death records. Yearbooks
provide a living history, Grey said, show-
ing photographs, activities and the cul-
tural context of the era.
Once the collection is established, the
members anticipate a non-lending
library setting where the public can
peruse the past and make laser copies of
pages as keepsakes.
Those donating yearbooks will be
honored with a nameplate in the books
and, of course, can visit their contribu-
tion whenever they like. They sleep
soundly at night knowing their part of
history is safely secured for posterity.
Manson, the project's other co-chair,
seeks more contributions. "There's a lot

Survivors' Pictures
Taken Sunday

The DMC-Sinai Hospital Program for
Holocaust Survivors and Families will
conduct a drop-in photography session
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20,
in the Jewish Community Center in
Oak Park.
Photographs will be taken for a new
project, which seeks to honor and
remember the Holocaust survivors of
our community. Copies will be made
available to survivors and their families
at no charge.
