AKING THE

rounds in 1974
and 1975
At the new
Bijou restaurant on Southfield
Road, just 20 people were
invited for a "closed circuit"
gourmet dinner by Fritz
Sonnenschmidt, a world-
renowned chef in town from
his post as an instructor at the
famed Culinary Institute in
New York ... He made a beau-
tiful pate foie Bras, escargot,
oxtail soup with Madeira
wine, stuffed duck in brandy,
sliced veal in a red wine
sauce, souffle with Grand
Marnier ... But before prepar-
ing this sumptuous meal,
Fritz had to do one very
important thing for himself
... order out for a pizza.
