Weizmann Plants
A Garden Of Fun

srael is already famous for its
export of science-based prod-
ucts. Now it is becoming
known for its export of science-
based fun.
The Weizmann Institute's Youth
Activities Section in Rehovot, Israel,
has broken new ground by opening
the two-acre Clore Garden of Science.
It's a beautiful outdoor facility where
visitors can learn about basic scientific
principles. It so impressed a group of
science museum heads from the
United States, Europe and Asia
recently, that many have decided to
borrow ideas from Weizmann.

For example, Alan Friedman, direc-
tor of the New York Hall of Science,
wrote, "There are exhibits at the
Clore Garden of Science that I haven't
seen anywhere else. I predict that in
the next three years you will find at
least 10 big science museums around
the world with some of those exhibits
— and it's not too hard to predict
that mine will be one of them."
Dr. Moshe Rishpon, who runs the
Youth Activities Section, is pleased by
the response, though, he admits, "We at
the Weizmann can't fulfill all the
requests. For example, we don't have the
manpower or the facilities to create a
duplicate facility in the Asian country
that asked us to do so. But we sent out
blueprints and are building a few things
