New Ownership

T

oday's issue of the Jewish News is the first
under new ownership. Detroit Jewish
News LLC is a collaboration between
current Jewish News Publisher Arthur M.
Horwitz and Michael H. Steinhardt. Steinhardt,
in partnership with Seth Lipsky, possesses a key
Arthur M Horwitz ownership stake in New York-based Forward
Newspapers LLC, publisher of the English
language weekly Forward. Steinhardt has devoted
virtually all of his time to strengthening American
Jewish life through his cutting-edge endeavOrs.
Steinhardt serves as chairman of Detroit Jewish
News LLC and Horwitz as president. Steinhardt
and Horwitz also have acquired one of our sister
Michael Steinhardt publications, the Atlanta Jewish Times.
Horwitz
has served as associate publisher and publisher of the Jewish News
since 19861 Style magazine, published in both Detroit and Atlanta, is
included in the purchase.
"My vision and my hope is that reading Jewish newspapers
will become something of interest to Jews in their formative
years and through life," Steinhardt said.
For Arthur Horwitz's column on the purchase, please see page 35.
While the ownership structure has changed, our mission
hasn't. It's possible the Jewish News and the Forward could share
some content, but nothing formal has been arranged.
We remain committed to communicating to you — our valued
ers — engaging, enjoyable and unique news and opinion. We
e to reflect the full range of diverse viewpoints within
while also advocating positions that strengthen
unityand continuity. We will continue to create and
tin a challenging, caring and enjoyable work environment that
creativity and innovation. Our role as a responsible,
e member of the community will be ongoing. We will
tie to strive-to be the most respected, outstanding Jewish
publication in the nation. Our rewards will continue to
lined, educated readers, very satisfied advertisers, contented
em ores and profitable growth.
We look forward to this new and exciting chapter in the
distinguished history of the Jewish News.
