home, I am always so proud about
how neat my 2-year-old daughter,
Jolie, is at the table. Unlike many chil-
dren I have observed in my restaurant,
there is never a scrap of food on the
floor when she is finished eating.
Imagine my surprise when we dined
out and half her meal was on the
restaurant floor. I spent some consid-
erable time pondering the differences
of the home versus restaurant setting
and the possible impact on my daugh-
ter's table manners.
"It was only when Harley, our black
retriever, retrieved the remainder of
my sandwich for his snack that I real-
ized I was no Freud. We had a canine
vacuum cleaner at home. I'm thinking
of giving him a full-time job cleaning
up after the toddlers at the restaurant.
Only problem — what will he take his
leftovers home in — a kitty bag?"
20 RESTAURANTS will vie for
honors at the Fifth Annual Michigan
Culinary Food & Wine Extravaganza,
Tuesday evening, March 7, at Mac &
Ray's in Harrison Township.
Food and wine pairings by the
restaurants will be for an expected
over 800 guests in the yearly Mardi
Gras benefit ... it's to help send the
Michigan Culinary Team to the food
Olympics competition in Germany,
and provide scholarship funds.
