-entertainment than Las Vegas ... In the
Grand Theater at MGM Grand is the
astounding EFX starring Tommy Tune
in the world's largest and most technolo-
gy-advanced theater production ... Some
of the EFX special effects cost over $1
million dollars each in a show that uses
enough energy to power 1,440 homes ...
At Paris' Le Theater De Arte is the
English-speaking adaptation of the inter-
national hit musical spectacular, Notre
Dame De Paris, a 21st century pop-rock
version of Victor Hugo's classic French
romance; The Hunchback of Notre Dame
... In Venetian's Club C2K Showroom,
Andre-Phillipe Gagnon is appearing
with his multitude of voices.
Probably one of Las Vegas' best
headliners today is a former Detroit
locale standout ... appearing through
January in the Starlight Lounge at the
Desert Inn. -
If you've never seen Bob Anderson
before, try not to miss him ... He may
be back appearing again in the Detroit
area soon ... probably at Andiamo
Celebrity Showroom in Warren.
If you have seen him, believe it that
Bob is even better than ever ... His
relaxed presentation and smooth poise
bring out an entertainment richness ...
And he is superb while mimicking the
voice, style and mannerisms of show-
biz greats.
Bob is now one of the very few
singer-impressionists who can carry an
entire show by himself ... And certainly
among those whose vocal renditions are
also in a choice class.
The years have been good to Bob,
who today carries People magazine's
crown as 'America's Greatest Singing
Impressionist" ... and of whom Tony
Bennett once said, "He gets me so close,
I have to change my act."
At the Desert Inn, the Billy
Stevenson Trio backs Bob ... and many
will remember former Detroiter Billy,
whose dad, Jimmy Stevenson, was
"Uncle Jimmy" years back on "WXYZ.
A lot of folks will go back through
the years with handsome, likable and
talented Bob Anderson ... When he first
started out in Detroit area show busi-
ness, it was working for John Laffrey at
the Old Mill Tavern in Waterford ...
followed by places like Bobby's in
Bingham Farms on Telegraph, north of
12 Mile; Top Hat in Windsor; Steering
Wheel, which followed Act IV on West
Grand Boulevard; Top of the Pontch;
Roostertail; Duffy's; Dirty Helen's in
Leland Hotel, etc.
Like I said, Bob is better than ever
before ... and you'll be pleasantly glad
you didn't miss him ... when he hopeful-
ly appears here again ... this year.
