ABRAHAM L. RAIMI, 80, of

Farmington Hills, died Jan. 8. Mr.
Raimi was born in Poland and immi-
grated to Buffalo, N.Y., at age 2. In
1922, the family moved to Detroit. Mr.
Raimi attended the University of
Michigan and graduated with a degree
in history from Wayne State University.
He then served in the U.S. Navy, seeing
combat in the South Pacific.
Mr. Raimi was a home furnishings
executive and owner of Raimi Curtains, a
business his father started in 1924. He
also taught economics at Wayne State
University, donating his salary back to
the university to aid newly arrived inter-
national students. He was also a volun-

DAVID J. SCHACHTER, 87, of

Southfield, died Jan. 5. Prior to retire-
ment in 1977, Mr. Schachter was an
executive vice president of Hygrade
Food Products. He was a graduate of
Pratt Institute as well as an accom-
plished artist and sculptor. Mr.
Schachter was a member of Hadassah,
was involved with Israel Bonds, past vice
president of the American Meat
Institute, a past member of Knollwood
Country Club and a past member of
Temple Israel.
He is survived by his wife, Rose
Schachter; daughters and sons-in-law
Arline and Allan Rein of West
Bloomfield, Rhea and Richard Sweet of
Pennsylvania, Sandra and Jeffrey
Kopelman of Franklin; grandchildren
Howard and Nancy Luckoff, Cheryl and
David Viviano, Andrew and Inga Sweet,
Eric and Whitney Sweet, Jennifer and
Troy Overboe, Lisa Kopelman and
Aaron Fenberg, Rachel Kopelman; five
great-grandchildren.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be direct-
ed to Hadassah or JARC. Arrangements
by Ira Kaufman Chapel.
