And continue to pour hot coffee
into cups containing cold coffee.
Big Daddy's never did open a Big
Mama's ... but did come up with a
Little Daddy's.
So many restaurant owners still
don't realize that having an imagina-
tively-decorated place, with interest-
ing menus, will never take the place
of weak kitchens and weak service.
Many waitpersons still say,
"What are we having?" without
joining us.
More non-smoking sections than
ever are clearly separated from
smoking sections ... at a distance
where the smoke doesn't drift over.
Some new restaurant owners are
still trying to get rich quick ...
instead of getting smart and stop-
ping their rip-off tactics because
customers absolutely won't be back.
More restaurants than ever are
finally treating single diners as well
as they do groups of two or more.
The restaurant never has come
along with knowledge on how to
make those crisp cottage fried pota-
toes like Berman's on Times Square
in Detroit used to serve ... Or perch
sauteed like Club Berkley and
Northwood Inn.
Owners of auto dealerships, like
Audette Cadillac, are taking a closer
look at their service manager's abili-
ties ... He or she is more important
than they think ... In fact, all ser-
vice folks are a big reason for many
customers coming back or staying
away.
George Golematis of Giorgio's on
Greenfield in Oak Park ... and
brothers Al and Mike Bshara of Sila
on 12 Mile in Berkley ... never did
find a second spot in the northwest
area.
Good dinner-theater ... not half-
good and half-bad ... still hasn't
returned.
Cu s tomers still take it out on the
restaurant owner whenever they see
price changes ... And still can't
believe that the restaurateur made
more money when prices were
cheaper.
People arenot.parking illegally as
much in handicapped spaces as they
formerly did ... and are mighty
thankful they don't have to use
them legally.
