MORRIS BERIN, 82, of Southfield,

died Jan. 3.
He is survived by his daughters and
son-in-law, Lauri and Michael Kolody
of Southfield, Shelley and Joey Gitler
of Walled Lake; son and daughter-in-
law Joel and Chris Berin of Saginaw;
grandchildren Phil (Laura) Ben-Ezra,
Steven Ben-Ezra, Kenny (Amy) Ben-

Kolody, Scott Gitler, Jason Gitler,
Amy Berin; three great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters

children Rebecca Schulist, Amanda
Walsh, Cody Odom.

PHYLLIS CHICOREL, 63, formerly

of Oak Park, died Dec. 26 in San
Rafael, Calif.
She is survived by her sons, Steven,
Daniel (Stephanie Zone) and Jaco
(Mary Ireton). She was the grand-
mother of Dylan Michael Chicorel,
sister of Harvey (Addie) Philko of Port
Huron, Susan (Bill) Rosen of West
Bloomfield.
She was the beloved daughter of
the late Morris and Clara Philko of
Port Huron.
Memorial services were held in
Birmingham. Contributions may be

JOSEPH R. CRANIS, 99, of Livonia,

died Dec. 30.
He is survived by his daughters and
sons-in-law, Arlene and Morey
Hochberger of Livonia, Eleanor and
Robert Fitzerman of Oak Park; grand-
children Jeffrey Hochberger, Steve

(Lori) Hochberger, Bruce Hochberger,
Brian and Kevin Fitzerman; great-

Mr. Cranis was the beloved hus-
band of the late Rebecca Cranis.

by interment in the Hebrew Memorial

Jennifer. Mrs. Fantich was the beloved
wife of the late Julius Fantich.

LOUIS FINEGOLD, 79, of

Southfield, died Dec. 28. A retired
pharmacist, Mr. Finegold was the for-
mer owner of Lou's Drugs in Pontiac.
He is survived by his daughter and
son-in-law, Natalie and Glenn Lapin
of Huntington Woods; son and
daughter-in-law Richard and Linda
Finegold of Northbrook, Ill.; grand-
children Andrew and Michelle Lapin,
Jill, Matthew and Robert Finegold.
Mr. Finegold was the dear brother
of the late Esther Jentzer.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made

GERALDINE FINEMAN, 91, of
West Bloomfield, died Jan. 2.
Ms. Fineman was a kindergarten
teacher at Parker Elementary School
in Detroit and at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. She also traveled all
over the world.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth
Gutow of Bloomfield Hills; nephews
and nieces David and Cheryl Gutow,
Carol and Bob Goldstein, Arlene and
Steve Victor, Joseph and Sharon
Fineman, Lois and Sy Dorfman,
Gilbert and Sher Franklin, Richard
and Susan Gutow, Gary and Kathy
Gutow; 15 great-nephews and nieces
and 14 great-great-nephews and
nieces.
Ms. Fineman was the dear sister of
the late Dr. George Fineman, the late
Dr. Joe Fineman and the late Ann
Gutow.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

PEARL "PENNY" FELDMAN, 83,

of Southfield, died Jan. 1.
She is survived by her nieces, Patti
Davis, Karen Osborne; great-nephew
and nieces Jeffrey Kanagur, Kathleen
Osborne, Cynthia Osborne; longtime
companion Evelyn Imrie.
Ms. Feldman was the loving daugh-
ter of the late William Feldman and
the late Mary Auslander Gottesman
Feldman; loving sister of the late
Gertrude Oesterle.

NORA SCOTT GALE, 85, of Mill

Valley, Calif., died Dec. 27.
An attorney, Mrs. Gale graduated
of Wayne University law school in
1937 at age 23. She was recognized in
1987 by the State Bar of Michigan for
50 years' membership.
Born in Toronto, Mrs. Gale came
to Detroit at age 2. Her father, Samuel
Scott, was one of the founders of the
Michigan Brush Manufacturing
Company where she worked as a
young woman and served as chairman
of the board from 1979-1984.

She was a strong supporter of
women's rights and an avid reader. An
ardent supporter of Israel, she was a
longtime Hadassah member and a
member of the Allied Jewish
Campaign Quarter Century Club.
She lived in Detroit until 1967
when she moved into a home she and
her husband, the late Herbert B. Gale,
designed and built in Franklin. In
1995, she moved to California to be
cared for by her daughter, Dena.
Mrs. Gale is survived by her daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Dena and Dr.
Stanley Baer of Mill Valley; son and
daughter-in-law Bruce and Beverly
Gale of West Bloomfield; grandchil-
dren Neil Scott Baer, Lee David Baer,
Emily Baer, Heather Gale and Joey
Gale.
Mrs. Gale was the beloved wife of
the late Herbert Gale and the dear sis-
ter of the late Celia Scott Chapin.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
Hadassah, the Alzheimer's Association
or the Hebrew Academy of San
Francisco. Arrangements by Ira

JOYCE H. GOLDENBERG, 76, of

West Bloomfield, died Dec. 31. She
was a member of Women's American
ORT and the Birmingham Temple.
Mrs. Goldenberg is survived by her
sons and daughters-in-law, David and
Lisa Goldenberg of West Bloomfield,
Dr. Eric and Dr. Rebecca Goldenberg;
daughter Debra Haberman of Auburn
Hills; grandchildren Hailee and
Dustin Goldenberg, Michael
Colombo, Sarah Haberman, Emily
and Daniel Goldenberg; brother-in-
law Wallace Tonkin.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Daniel Goldenberg and the dear sister
of the late Lois Tonkin.

BARBARA GOODWIN, 64, of West

Bloomfield, died Jan. 2.
She was a member of the National
Council of Jewish Women, Women's
American ORT and Hadassah. She
volunteered at Yad
Ezra and collected
money door-to-door
for Muscular
Dystrophy.
Mrs. Goodwin
was a 1952 graduate
of Central High
School. She married

Herbert H. Goodwin

in 1958 and moved
