Sanford J. Linden
has been named the
new chairman of the
regional board of
Hospice of
Michigan. Linden is
president of
Farmington Hills-
based Seniors for
Sanford Linden Seniors, which pro-
v*ides non-medical
care to older adults, such as trans-
portation, assistance with household
chores and companionship. He is also
a member of the board of directors of
Metro Home Health Care and the
National Advisory Board on
Technology and the Disabled.

Howard B. Newman has been
appointed senior vice president of
development for Detroit Medical
Center. 'He will oversee fund-raising
programs for DMC and its member
hospitals.

Dr. Steven J. Ceresnie, past president
of the Michigan Psychological
Association, has been elected to a
three-year term as a council represen-
tative to the association starting in
January. Dr. Ceresnie is in private
practice in Plymouth.

Dr. Jeffrey Weingarten, section chief
of otolaryngology at Providence
Hospital in Southfield, has been voted
president-elect of the Michigan
Otolaryngological Society. A six-year
member of the society's executive
board, he is also medical director of
Providence Hospital's Voice and-
Communication Center.

The Royal Oak Parkinson Support
Group will meet 7-9 p.m. Monday,
Jan. 10, at Rose Cancer Center at
William Beaumont Hospital, Royal
Oak.

Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital will offer
a smoking cessation class starting 5 6
