know what to make of Farrell's hyp-
notic remake of "Whole Lotta Love,"
but it's a forceful, incandescent trib-
ute to a band that helped pave the
way for Jane's Addiction.
The rest of Rev is comprised of six
Jane's Addiction songs and eight
Porno for Pyros tunes. The usual sus-
pects are here — "Been Caught
Stealing," "Jane Says," "Stop" and
"Mountain Song" are established
favorites — but Farrell picks a great
mix of tracks from start to finish.
The petal-delicate "Kimberly
Austin" veers dangerously close to
sentimentality, but the stringy singer
pulls back before it ventures into the
Top 40 zone. The spooky "Tahitian
Moon" is a pulse-pounding and

Up next for Farrell is his debut for
Virgin Records, The Diamond
Jubilee, scheduled for release in
spring of next year. In addition to a
new record label, Farrell seems to be
leading a new life these days.
Since becoming a father last year,
the rocker says he's cleaned up his life,
and doesn't drink or do drugs. Born
Perry Bernstein, he also says he's rekin-
dled interest in his Jewish heritage.
