n organization born to
combat the bias of Arab
Palestinians against Israelis
nd Jews is relocating its
headquarters from metro Detroit to
New York.
Molly Resnick, founder of
Mothers Against Teaching Children
to Kill and Hate, says the 20-month-
old group is up and running in
Michigan and ready for the move.
The organization was started to
combat anti-Jewish and anti-Israel
teaching in the Arab Palestinian
school curriculum. Other MATCKH
leaders are Janet Aronoff of
Bloomfield Hills, Rae Sharfman of
West Bloomfield, Toby Schlussel of
Southfield, Geri Levitt of Commerce
Township and Arlene Gould of West
Bloomfield.
Resnick recalls the impact on her
of an April 1998 New York Post arti-
cle describing Jihad for Kids, an
Arafat Television Network program
highlighting suicide warriors.
Shocked at not encountering it again
on television news and in local
papers, Resnick says she first asked
herself, "Why aren't the Jews scream-
ing? How can Arafat's network teach
such hate?"
Discovering also that Arab
Palestinian textbooks were transmit-
ting anti-Israel propaganda, she set
out to make changes and launched
MATCKH. "If you teach this to chil-
dren, then when they grow up, what
will they do?" she says.
The organization works to "raise
Jewish consciousness, realizing the
tragic danger of 800,000 kids every
day being taught that Jewish people
are liars, killers, cheaters and that
they are poisoning the water," she
says.
The main focus of MATCKH is
the Kids for Peace/Peace Quilt pro-
gram. Letters written by American
