Long before the stores open, 51-
year-old Tillie Camhi drifts into the
Somerset Collection to be a part of
the mall's Walkabout Club. Camhi
can be spotted easily: she is the only
walker reading a novel while keeping
pace.
Starting near Neiman Marcus and
walking through the skyway and
back, she says her 75-minute routine
would not be complete without Dick
Purtan entertaining her through her
headset.
As a part of the mall's club, she
joins fellow walkers on the first
Wednesday of each month for a con-
tinental breakfast and to listen to
speakers in the Cafe Jardin. "There is

like heart-shaped stress balls and
water bottles.
Camhi began mall walking at
Northland Mall 15 years ago with
her mother, Bella, who is now 75
and retired from walking. "It was the
first mall to open its doors in the
early hours to accommodate heart
patients from Providence Hospital,"
recalled Camhi. "It is still filled with
some of the nicest Jewish walkers in
town.
Camhi mall-walks seven days a
week either at Somerset or Summit
Place.

ed to walking. But she admits win-
dow-shopping is part of the fun. She
heads back to the mall almost every
day to buy something she noticed in
