Adult Seminars

Author and lec-
turer Rabbi
Joseph Telushkin
will be guest
speaker for the
kickoff of the
community-wide Seminars for Adult
Jewish Enrichment (SAJE), 7:30
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Jewish
Community Center's Kahn Building
in West Bloomfield.
Held at both JCC locations, SAJE
offers the largest and most diverse
selection of adult
Jewish education
courses in the
community,
among them the
Jewish Internet,
Jewish cooking,
Jewish music,
Israel, Jewish law,
ethics and spiritu-
ality. Courses are Rabbi Joseph
taught by local
Telushkin
rabbis, cantors,
educators, scholars and community
leaders from all Jewish denomina-
tions. SAJE terms will be held Jan.
25-Feb. 10 and Feb. 22-March 9.
New this year are lunch-and-learn
sessions and a special course for
young adults.
Rabbi Telushkin's books include
Jewish Literacy: The Most Important
Things to Know About the Jewish
Religion, Its People and Its History
Rabbi Telushkin serves as an asso-
ciate of CLAL, the National Jewish
Center for Learning and Leadership,
and as spiritual leader of the
Synagogue of the Performing Arts in
Los Angeles.
The kickoff event is co-sponsored
by the Community Outreach and
Education Department of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
and Jewish Family Service.
SAJE is funded by an endowment
from Cis Maisel Kellman and spon-
sored by the JCC, Jewish Federation
the Jewish News and the Agency for
Jewish Education.
Admission to the Telushkin lec-
ture is free of charge. Advance tick-
ets are available at both JCC loca-
tions. The public is invited.
Tuition for SAJE courses is $15
per course; $36 for unlimited cours-
