Local Columnist

C

ourt reporter Lauren
Bienenstock held court last
week at the Excalibur
Restaurant for her annual
holiday party. More than 220 clients
— all attorneys — packed the decora-
tive restaurant for cocktails and hors
d'oeuvres.
"This is the first year I've attended
the party, and I think it's nice to see
people you've seen on a professional
basis on a social
basis, said attorney
Shel Erlich.
Attorney Mitzi
Robinson echoed
the sentiments.
"It's a festive
party," she said.
We get to see
both plaintiff and
defense attorneys.
And the food is
g ood." "
Some attorneys
brought others as
guests, like Lee
Steinberg who
came with Allan
Studenberg.
"The party has
quadrupled over
the years," noted Bienenstock. She
has 60 court reporters working for her
along with additional staff people in
the Bingham Farms-based business,
Lauren Bienenstock & Associates Inc.
and Bienenstock Video. Her husband,
Sam, who is an attorney, works full
time in the business as a financial
manager.
She credited the success of their
party to the two-hour time limit, 5:30
to 7:30, the location of the Excalibur,
and the social setting. "The plaintiff
and defense attorneys really enjoy the
shmoozing," she added.
If people didn't have enough to eat,
there was plenty of shoptalk. Even
Geoffrey Feiger stopped by.
Some of the others spotted in the
crowd included Douglas Wartell,
Josh Ben, Allan Ben, Lee Morof,

Michael Sugar, Cheryl Bloom, Jim
Bloom, Brian Einhorn, Steve
Gursten, Richard Lustig and Harvey
Heller.
The party seemed to have every-
one's approval, even Lauren's mom,
Thelma Stalburg-Brown.

WOLVERINE DANCER
Lindsey Zicherman of Farmington
Hills has been selected to perform on
the Wolverine Dance Team. She is a
University of Michigan freshman and
will compete in January at the

College Nationals Dance Team com-
petition in Orlando, Fla. Lindsey has
been dancing and competing nation-
ally since she was eight years old.

WILLITS PREVIEW
Mel Ball and Colours recently

entertained with their music under
the heated tent set up at the corner of
Willits and Bates in downtown
Birmingham, a benefit for the
Birmingham Historical Society
Museum Fund. Robertson Brothers
Group underwrote the event and
announced the build-
ing of the new
Birmingham condo-
minium complex on
the exact site of the
party. The Robertson
brothers along with
developer Jim Wiener
welcomed the crowd.
Some of the people
spotted included Reva
Kogan, Harvey
Grace, Barbara and
Robert Ruskin, and
Richard and Shelley
Golden.
