is an interactive exhibit both in the
museum and online that allows visi-
tors to take an identity and make
decisions as if living in the time of
the Shoah. Like the Holocaust
itself, your chances of surviving the
game" are very slim.
The John J. Mames Oral History
Department has an oral interview list
whose entries are in the process of
being summarized online. The actual
video clips may be viewed in the
Video Theater at the HMC. Perhaps
someday you'll be able to watch a
sample or two online.
The Schaver Library Archive page
presents a sort of catalog of the topics
and materials available at the muse-
um. It's too bad the library can't be
tapped into online, but anyone wanti-
ng to research the Holocaust can use
the links page. They will enable visi-
tors to take guided tours of some of
the concentration camps, or join a
Holocaust listsery — an e-mail "dis-
cussion" forum where ideas are
shared, explored, and questions asked
and answered.
The Web site is neither date
dependent nor date specific. The
programs and events page, however,
gives you an idea of the services
available through the HMC: lecture
series, teacher seminars, a speakers
bureau, and more. While at the site,
you're only a click away from buy-
ing books, art and videos at the
museum gift shop, or signing on as
a volunteer, member or benefactor
of the HMC.
Last February, the Holocaust
Memorial Center announced plans
for a massive expansion project.
Here's hoping its Web site also
expands.
Visit the HMC, offline and online,
and bring your family too. 7
