Community educator Ruth
Bergman will teach a text study semi-
nar "War and Peace in the Promised
Land: Understanding the Book of
Joshua" 10:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday,
Dec. 21 and 28, at Congregation B'nai
Moshe. Advance registration is
required. Tuition is $20 for the series.
Bergman will lead an abbreviated
version of her study series "The Tree of
Life and the Way of Splendor: An
Introduction to Kabbala," 10:30 a.m.-
noon Thursday, Dec. 23 and 30, at
B'nai Moshe. Tuition is $20 for the
series; $10 per session.
Also on Dec. 23 and 30, David
Blewett, executive director of the
Ecumenical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies in Southfield, will
lead a seminar at B'nai Moshe for
intermediate-to-advanced learners. The
text study experience is "Use and
Misuse of Scripture in Jewish-
Christian Relations: Prophecy and the
Millennium." Tuition is $20 for the
series; $10 per session.
Blewett will be guest speaker at Eilu
v' Eilu's weekly Latte and Learning 10-
11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at Borders
Books and Music, 30995 Orchard
Lake Road, Farmington Hills. His
topic is "Use and Misuse of Scripture:
An Overview." Tuition is $5; students
may register at the door.
Dr. Joe Lewis, community educator,
editor and publisher, will lead a three-
part literary learning series titled
"From Demon to Angel: Images of
Jews in Chaucer, Shakespeare and
Eliot" at Book Beat, 26010 Greenfield
Road, Oak Park. The series meets
7:30-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27;
Thursday, Dec. 30; and Monday, Jan.
3. Tuition is $30 for the series; $10 per
session.
Rabbi Aaron Bergman will lead an
intensive evening seminar called "The
History of Hebrew" 7-10 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 29, at a private home
in West Bloomfield. Tuition is $15.
