Rachel Lesser was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 27, at Temple Kol Ami. She is the daughter of Sheryl and Jeffrey Lesser, sister of Sarah Ann and Zoe, and the granddaughter of Adele and Harold Samuels, Elaine Lesser and the late Morton Lesser. Rachel is an honor student at O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. She enjoys dance, gymnastics, tennis, the computer and attending camps Tamarack and Michigania every summer. Rachel's mitzvah projects included making quilts for babies with AIDS, volunteering at the Salvation Army Shining Light program and helping in Mrs. Frank's third-grade classroom at Woodcreek Elementary School. Matthew Herman Moss will celebrate his bar mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Temple Kol Ami. Matthew is the son of Carol and Leonard Moss and brother of Lindsey. He is the grandson of Rose and Irving Tesler and the late Mollie and Herman Moss. Matthew is an honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield and plays saxophone in the school band. Malt's interests include sports, computers, movies, music and talk radio. He worked at Yad Ezra and the Farmington Hills Library as part of his mitzvah pro- ject. He will also donate food baskets to the Oakland County Food Bank. Danniell Ana Nadiv will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek B'nai Israel. She is the daughter of Yair and Shelley Sheey Nadiv and the sister of Yohnatan and Amichai. Proud grandparents are Sandy and Denny Brenner, Murray Sherman, and Ziona and David Nadiv. Great-grandmothers are Bessie Kutnick and Charlotte Sherman. Danniell is an honor student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills and plays on the girls varsity basketball team. As a young child, Danniell began volunteering at Yad Ezra as well as the Jewish Home for Aged and Jewish Apartments and Services. This past year she organized a drive to collect toys, clothing and school supplies for needy children in the inner city and participated in the Jewish Family Services Fall Fix Up program. During Passover, Danniell and her family will travel to Israel to celebrate her bat mitzvah. David Benjamin Snyder will become a bar mitzvah at Havdala services on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Temple Israel. He is the son of Melinda and Dr. Michael Snyder and brother of Daniel. His proud grandparents are Bess and Henry Friedman and Winnie Snyder; he is also the grand- son of the late Joseph Snyder. Yad Ezra was David's favorite mitzvah project; he volunteered there in addition to donating some of his bar mitzvah funds. A student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills, David is interested in baseball, football, in-line skating, basketball, collecting sports cards, building models and working on the computer. Shayna Gittel Waldman was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Congregation Beth Moses Tefillah in Mt. Clemens. Her father, Rabbi Mordechai Shimone (Mark) Waldman, officiated. In attendance were her sisters Esther and Zipporah Leah. Sending best wishes were her eldest sis- ter Etta and brother Avrahum Waldman. Shayna is the granddaugh- ter of the late Etta Pascal Waldman, who is buried at Har Haminuchos in Jerusalem. Shayna is also the great- granddaughter of the late Shayna Gittel Pascal (Waldman), for whom she is named. Shayna attends Norup Middle School in Oak Park and is adept at play- ing the flute in her music class.
