unaware that
final-status

Yitzhak Rabin
had been con-
cluded and the disposition of
Jerusalem had already been decided
upon as a fait accompli.
Third, he claims that "rabbis" jus-
tified the murder committed by
Yigal Amir, without naming names.
I challenge Mr. Rubin to find even
one rav who would consider justify-
ing such an unholy act of violence.
Where Muslim clergy often encour-
age such acts of terror in their co-
religionists, never once has a Jewish
clergy done the same. In fact, Jewish
clergy from all streams, both Ortho-
dox and heterodox, are the first to
condemn such acts when committed
by Jews.
Finally, Mr. Rubin claims the Leah
Rabin's Jew-baiting is justified. At least
he understands it. He also noted that
Mrs. Rabin's Jew-baiting is doing
more to divide than unite." I submit
that Mr. Rubin's rhetoric does the
same. Mr. Rubin laments the fact that
people with vastly different para-
digms rarely, particularly in theological
and political terms, cross our path." I
understand this to mean that Jews of
different political and religious lean-
ings don't communicate with each
other very much. Indeed, I also sub-
mit that Mr. Rubin should, himself,
get out more.
Trace the career and life of this
startling and original 20th—century

Shame on the Jewish News. You buried
on page 34 a story about how Jews
were accused of poison-gassing Pales-
tinian women and children and our
president's wife was silent in response
("Silent In Ramallah," Nov. 19).
Where would this news item have
been placed if it had been Ronald
Reagan's wife?

Israeli Court
Is Wrong
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, report-
ing on two Jewish "extremists," pro-
vided insight into the Israeli govern-
ment's campaign against Jewish right-
wing groups and its concept of mis-
taken corruption infecting the state.
The first noted that the Israeli
Supreme Court, supporting the left-
wing army endeavors, voted to tear
down the burial monument to Baruch
Goldstein because its continued pres-
ence would send a message "of praise
for the crime" ("Court Okays Shrine
Removal," Nov. 19).
Baruch Goldstein, combat surgeon,
killed 29 Arabs because the Israeli gov-
ernment and its much-vaunted army
declined to interfere with Arabs and
their chanting for Jewish blood. They
professed ignorance as to why Arabs
were armed with iron poles in their
mosque.
Is it wrong to interfere with Arabs
to preserve Jewish blood? Apparently
the army thinks that until the Arab
strikes and murders Jews, it cannot
interfere; all this to send the right
message that Jews will accept anything
as long as the world says that peace
will be the result.
Second, JTA cited a Jewish
extremist" sentenced to a 24-year jail
term "for placing a pig's head on the
grave of a Palestinian nationalise'
("Sentence Given in Pig Incident,"
Nov. 19).
How is a Jewish extremist different
from an Arab nationalist? Perhaps the
extremist deals in nonsense while the
nationalist cries of loss of land. Then
why do Jews end up in Israeli prisons
when complaining of their loss of
land?
Surely, the Israeli court would not
censor Arab hatred and condemna-
tions of Jews; yet it sentences any
right-wing Jewish attempt to make
and commemorate its love of Israel
and, by extension, their hatred of
Arabs.
Can it be that the court feels better
to preserve Arab nationalism because
it appears to be mere words than to let
Jewish extremism run rampant over
the left-wing Israelis?
Hallowed to continue the appease-
ment of the Arabs, the court will be
superfluous when the Arabs take con-
trol.
