Lighting the Way ...Together

HAPPY HANUKAH!

M

ore than 2,000 years after the

Maccabees defeated the enemies of

the Jewish people, we continue to

celebrate the ancient miracle of the lights —

when a one-day supply of oil for the rededication

of the Temple menorah burned for eight days.

But the miracle is a modern one as well. Over

the centuries, under the most anguished

circumstances, Jews have managed to celebrate

the lighting of the Hanukah menorah. We not

only survived, we won.

Today, a new challenge is before us: to preserve

the flame of our tradition.Your Federation is

working together with synagogues, agencies

and educational institutions to offer creative

experiences for families and individuals of all

ages — opportunities that enrich the quality of

our Jewish lives.

There is nothing easy about the path we have

chosen. It will take extraordinary financial and

human resources to make Jewish continuity more

than just a vision. But we will do it.

We have triumphed before, and we will

triumph again.

On this Festival of Lights, we wish you and those

you love our best wishes for a Happy Hanukah.
