Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
will offer a new education program ro
teach adults about Shabbat and the hol-
idays, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 11.
Offered in 10 two-hour sessions, Life
Cycling/Al Galgalim will explain tradi-
tions and customs, encourage discussion
and practice of prayers, songs and ritu-
als. The program is open to men and
women of all ages. Materials, including
a resource guide, will accompany the
program.

Nelsons Lead
Trip To _Spain

Rabbi David and Alicia Nelson, with
the assistance of Connie Wolberg of
Gateway Travel, will plan a trip to Spain
and Portugal.
The trip is set for Feb. 27-March 12.
The group has planned Shabbat dinners
with the local Jewish communities in
addition to visiting the many Jewish
sites in Spain.
In Portugal, they will visit a medieval
mountain village where there is a
Crypto-Jewish community dating back
to the 16th century. A luncheon with
members of the community is planned,
as well as a visit to their first synagogue,
built a few years ago.
There are provisions for a shorter itin-
erary for those who have limited time.

Jewish Ritual
Panel Held

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit and Temple Israel-
will sponsor a women's panel discussion
titled "Reclaiming Jewish Rituals:
Where Do I Belong?" at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the JCC's Kahn
Building in West Bloomfield. The panel
is part of the "Jewish Women: Then,
Now and What's Next?" series.
Panelists include Yael Weil, Rabbi
Tamara Kolton and Rachel Yoskowitz.
Rabbi Michelle Faudem will serve as
moderator. The panel will discuss
Jewish rituals that shape a Jewish
woman's life and give her a sense of
belonging in Judaism. The program is
open to everyone and is free of charge.
