Race-Walkers
Are Golden

At the recent Senior Olympics in
Orlando, Fla., two local race-walkers
won three events.
Manny Hauer of Southfield won
the 1,500 meter race in the 85-89
division. Recent Michigan Jewish
Sports Hall of Fame inductee Julius
Spielberg of West Bloomfield won the
1,500 meter and 5,000 meter races in
the 95-99 age group.

Close Finish At
Bider Tourney

The annual B'nai B'rith Ben Bider
Tournament was bowled Nov. 21 at
Luxury Lanes in Ferndale. The high-
light was a perfect 300 game rolled by
Mike Diskin of Morgenthau
L'Chayim/ Zeiger-Gross.
Team results:
1st place - Mort and Matt Friedman,
Jerry Lash and Denny Sobol 2552.

Sports Classes
For Children

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will hold youth
enrichment and sports classes begin-
ning Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Kahn
Building in West Bloomfield.
Youth enrichment classes include
beginning and advanced theater with
Nancy Gurwin, kids ceramics, craft
mania and kids book club.
Among the sports classes for youth
age 4 through eighth grade are begin-
ning in-line skating, Mighty Mite
Hockey, in-line hockey league, kid fit
classes and martial arts.
Registration deadline is Jan. 20.
