In 1988 Senator
Joseph Lieberman
scored the biggest
upset victory in the
country by winning
a Connecticut Senate
seat by just 10,000
votes. Six years
later he again made
history with the
biggest landslide
victory ever in a
Connecticut Senate
race taking 67
percent of the vote.
Lieberman is one of our unrivaled leaders on all
issues of concern to the pro-Israel community. He
is the lead Democratic sponsor on most efforts to
stem the flow of missile technology to Iran, and this
year he spearheaded the Iran Non-proliferation Act
of 1999. Lieberman was also the lead Democratic
sponsor of the 1995 Jerusalem Relocation Act which
mandates the United States move its embassy from
Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He brings a unique
perspective to the Senate as the only Orthodox
Jewish U.S. Senator.
