Rabbi Avraham Cohen sug-
gests that December can be a challeng-
ing month.
Rabbi Cohen, who directs the
Partners In Torah adult study program
at Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, stresses that
Chanuka "isn't a consolation prize," but
rather a special, meaningful holiday that
Jews can be proud of. But, he says,
"When it comes to explaining it to
their kids or to the guy next door, they
are often at a loss for words because
they might not understand the reasons

"Chanuka Encounter,"
offered at the Southfield-
based school, was designed
to address this challenge, he
says.
The one-hour program on
Tuesday, Dec. 7, following
