be observed at the hospital. She also
teaches personnel at other hospitals
about Jewish perspectives.
While the job is demanding,
Teeple loves her work. "I thought I
could do work like that, work that
makes an effect on someone's life.
This job is extremely rewarding. The
sad and horrible things I see are off-
set by the wonderful people I meet
and the fact that I know I have made
a difference in a few people's lives."

Dr. Michael M. Cher of Huntington
Woods recently won first prize for the
best prostate cancer research presented
at the Third World Congress on
Urological Research in Paris. The award
recognized Dr. Cher's research into the
biology of prostate cancer metastasis.
The doctor is an assistant professor in
the departments of urology and pathol-
ogy at Wayne State University and the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer
Institute. He practices urology at the
Hechtman Medical Building in
Bingham Farms and at the Karmanos
Institute in Detroit.

Larry Friedberg of Huntington Woods
was named 1999 Distinguished
Psychologist by the Michigan
Psychological Association at the organi-
zation's fall convention. He was cited
for his accomplishments in the area of
child custody and leadership in the area
of insurance and other MPSA policy
issues. Friedberg is in private practice at
Psychological Institutes of Michigan PC
in Franklin.
