Health and
Hospital

Physician Leadership Award for
Community Contributions.
Dr. Devries was recognized for his
involvement in the overall health and
welfare of the community, exemplified
by his long-term involvement in
Oakwood's Community Assessment
Project, an extensive assessment of the
health status of individuals living
within Oakwood's service area.
In the Jewish community, Dr.
Devries co-chairs the Education
Committee and is on the board of the
new Jewish Academy of Metropolitan
Detroit. He co-chairs the Maimonides
Medical Society of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
He serves on the board of directors of
the Fresh Air Society and serves as
pediatrician at Camp Maas for two
weeks each summer. Finally, he orga-
nizes the comprehensive medical care
provided at no charge to homeless
individuals who reside for one week
each year at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
