The Southfield Veterans Citizen of the Year Commitment to Community Award was presented posthumously to him at a Nov. 10 city hall program by the Southfield Veterans Organization, which includes the Jewish War Veterans. Mr. Schwartz was cited for having "demonstrated a lifetime commitment to helping others in the community," working on behalf of veterans' issues, and for his distinguished career as a veteran with 13 citations.
