Sisterhood Health Showcase Slated

The Temple Beth El Sisterhood will pre-
sent a showcase of health and fitness ser-
vices, seminars and healthful lifestyle
ideas for all ages 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, NOV. 21, at the temple. It is
open to the community without charge.
Speakers include Rabbi E.B. (Bunny)
Friedman, director, Jewish Hospice and
Chaplaincy Network, discussing Jewish
end-of-life issues; Carol Tarnowski,
estate attorney, speaking on durable
power of attorney, living wills and other
estate issues; Dr. David Brownstein,
director, Center for Holistic Medicine
and author of Miracle of Natural
Hormones discussing his areas of exper-
tise; a representative from Karmanos
Cancer Institute, discussing genetic links
to cancer; and Oakland Athletic Club
trainers talking on the importance of
exercise as people age.
Health and fitness experts in a walk-
through expo will provide information
on nutritional therapies, relaxation tech-
niques, exercise options and cutting-
edge medical and dental treatments.
Also available on site will be the
Karmanos Cancer Institute Mobile
Mammography Unit. Walk-ins are wel-
come but appointments are preferred.

Veteran's Memory
Is Honored

The late Jacob "Jack" Schwartz was
honored at the city of Southfield's
Veterans Day program this week.
The Southfield Veterans Citizen of
the Year Commitment to Community
Award was presented posthumously to
him at a Nov. 10 city hall program by
the Southfield Veterans Organization,
which includes the Jewish War
Veterans.
Mr. Schwartz was cited for having
"demonstrated a lifetime commitment
to helping others in the community,"
working on behalf of veterans' issues,
and for his distinguished career as a
veteran with 13 citations.
