ADL Event
The Anti-Defamation League
Michigan Region recently hosted 'A
Night of Comedy" at Knollwood
Country Club with comedian Robert
Klein. More than 300 patrons attend-
ed the event, along with chairmen
Sherry and Richard Gershenson and
Judi and Brad Schram.
While Klein provided many laughs,
a highlight of the evening was the
serious speech by 11-year-old Bradley
Gonik of Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit. Gonik
described how he was stalked online
by hate groups after revealing he was
Jewish in a chat room. He received
1,500 hate e-mail messages. His fami-
ly sought help from ADL and the
organization helped locate a hare
group from the Netherlands. "I
learned never to be in chat rooms,"
said Brad. His other valuable lesson:
"We must continue to stand up for
what is right and speak out against
bigotry and racism."

Politically Incorrect
Attorney Debbie Schlussel appeared
in September on the ABC nationally
televised program Politically Incorrect
with host Bill Maher. She joined Joan
Rivers, Alan Dershowitz and pop
singer Edwin McCain. On the pro-
gram, Schlussel chided Dershowitz for
defending O.J. Simpson. Apparently,
her words were well received for
Schlussel will be a guest again 1 a.m.
Nov. 18, appearing with Al Franken.

Hadassah News
Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
will host Dr. Yoel Donchin, director
of critical care transport unit at
Hadassah Medical Center, 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Temple Shir
Shalom in West Bloomfield. Dr.
Donchin will give an account of his
recent experiences aiding refugees in
Kosovo.
The event organizers include
Beverly Apel, Francine Hack, Shirley
Robbins, Nancy Finkel, Marcia
Bednarsh, Andrea Trivax, Barbara
Moretsky, Sharon Fishman, Deena
Lockman and Susan Yorke.
