The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit is offering the
following winter trips:
• Miami Beach, Jan. 4-18 or Jan. 4-
25, with a stay at the oceanfront
Saxony Hotel. An option is a
Caribbean cruise following the stay at
the Saxony.
• Palm Springs and Long Beach, Feb.
8-29, with 10 days in Palm Springs
and 11 days in the Long Beach area,
including Los Angeles, Hollywood
and surrounding communities.
• Scottsdale, Ariz., Feb. 9-23 or Feb.
9-March 1, staying at the Holiday
Inn Old Town in Scottsdale.
• Scottsdale and Las Vegas, Feb. 9-
March 1, offers three nights at the
Flamingo Hilton as well as 18 days in
Scottsdale.
• Jewish Cuba, Feb. 13-21, includes a
tour of Havana's old Jewish city, a
pre-Shabbat study session with a
Cuban Jewish group at the Patronato
Synagogue, a Shabbat dinner and a
tour of Santiago.
• Costa Rica, Feb. 28-March 6, stay-
ing at the Melia Cariari Hotel, min-

utes west of San Jose. Group will
travel the area, including rainforests,
and visit with Costa Rican Jews.
• A cruise aboard the Stella Solaris,
March 13-23.

The American Friends of ALYN
Hospital mission to Israel is set for
April 27 through May 7, 2000.
It will start with a private Shabbat
service and dinner in the new Hilton
Hotel in Jerusalem and end with a
farewell dinner, after returning from
historic Jaffa, near Tel Aviv. The trip
will include Masada, Jerusalem's Old
City and scuba diving in Eilat, among
other attractions.
The mission includes deluxe
hotels, the land portion in Israel and
Jordan and most meals. The cost is
$2,500 per person, plus a $500 mini-
mum (per person) tax deductible
donation to ALYN Hospital. Single

offer passengers savings on roundtrip
airfare to Israel this winter with
"Early Bird" fares starting at $499.
Passengers can also take advantage
of a winter special vacation package
starting at $899.
For passengers traveling from New
York (JFK or Newark), the early bird
fare is $499 (add an additional $50 for
Thursday or Saturday departures).
From Baltimore/Washington, D.C., the
fare is $549; from Miami and Chicago,
$569; from Los Angeles, $629.
Children under 12 pay 75 percent
of the adult fare. Passengers who wish
to upgrade to business class may do
. so for a special surcharge.
The early bird airfare must be pur-
chased by Dec. 8 and is valid for trav-
el through Dec. 15, and from Jan. 10

through March 17.
In addition to these fares, El Al
and Superstar Holiday will offer a low
air-and-land winter special vacation
package valid for travel now through
Dec. 18 and from Jan. 9-Feb. 29.
This package, which starts at $899
(from Newark), includes roundtrip
airfare on El Al and accommodations
for six consecutive nights in any com-
bination of the following hotels:
Grand Beach Tel Aviv, Ariel
Jerusalem, Grand Nirvana Dead Sea
and Hagoshurim Upper Galilee.
The cost for the winter vacation
package is $969 from
Baltimore/Washington, D.C.; $999
from Chicago and Miami; $1,099 from
Los Angeles. Packages with deluxe hotel
accommodations are also available with
prices starting at $1,069.
Prices are per . person, based on
double occupancy and include all
hotel taxes and Israeli breakfast. One
child up to age 12 stays for free in a
room with parents.
