He is the son of Robin and Dr. Jeffrey Danto and brother of Sandy, Shayna and Allison. Excited grandmother is Joan Danto. He is also the grandchild of the late Dr. Bruce Danto and the late Shirley and Dr. Morris Hutton. An honor roll student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield, Michael enjoys computers, skiing and attending Camp Tamakwa. His most meaningful mitzvah project involved volunteering at JARC. Tamara Findling of Farmington Hills will be bat mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek on Saturday, Nov. 6. Rabbis Irwin Groner, Steven Weiss and Joseph Krakoff as well as Cantors Chaim Najman and Ralph Goren will lead the services. Participating in the ceremony will be Tamara's parents Luba and Fred S. Findling and brothers Timur, David, Daniel and Darren and sister Debbie. Proud grandmother is Yatar Kandinova of Southfield. Tamara is a student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. She is active in tennis, art and music. Her mitzvah project is helping poor people by volunteering at Yad Ezra. Lisa Ann Goode will become a bat mitzvah at Havdala services on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Temple Israel. She is the daughter of Barbara Goode and Dave Goode and sis- ter of Michael. A West Hills Middle School stu- dent in Bloomfield Hills, Lisa enjoys basketball, volleyball, soccer, gymnas- tics and movies. Her most meaningful mitzvah project involved serving food to the homeless at COTS; she also vol- unteered at Temple Israel's Labor Day picnic. Lisa is especially pleased about this milestone because she is the first female in her family to become a bat mitzvah. Jessica Sandweiss Hodges cele- brated her bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 30, with Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring at Lovett Hall in Greenfield Village, Dearborn. Friends and family joined Jessy; her parents, Matthew Hodges and Ellen Sandweiss Hodges; and her sister, Ali. Jessy is the granddaughter of Miriam and Sheldon Sandweiss and Bobby and Lola Hodges. In honor of Jessy, a chorus of shule students performed, led by Esther Freeman. Shule Director Jan Adler officiated at the event; Arlene Frank, Michigan District chair, brought greetings from Workmen's Circle in Detroit and across the country. The title of Jessy's bat mitzvah presentation was "The Jews Who Created Hollywood." For the Yiddish component, she sang "Farvus" ("Tell Me Why"). Jessy is an eighth-grader at Norup Middle School in Oak Park. Her interests include basketball, soccer, dramatics and voice lessons. Her mitzvah projects involved help- ing coach the Huntington Woods swim team and joining with other students to sing at the Anna & Meyer Prentis and Harriet & Ben Teitel Jewish Apartments in Oak Park. Eric Brandon Hoffman will cele- brate his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on Saturday, Nov. 6. He is the son of Sue and Jeff Hoffman and brother of Alex. Proud grandpar- ents are Marlene and Morris Hoffman and Pauline and Harry Schwartz. Mitzvah pro- jects included vol- unteering at Yad Ezra, assisting with Temple Israel's Kever Avot and planting trees in Israel through the Jewish National Fund. An honor roll student at Walled Lake Middle School, where he is on the basketball and soccer teams, Eric plays golf on the Junior Michigan PGA Tour and enjoys music, AOL, playing the trumpet, basketball and soccer. Michael Justin Kroopnick will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Congregation Beth Shalom. Michael is the son of Ellen and Rick Kroopnick and the brother of Jared. Proud grandparents are Trudy and Stan Berlin and Ethel and Saul Kroopnick. Michael is an eighth-grader at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. He enjoys playing baseball and basket- ball. Michael's mitzvah project included participating in the JARC program at Hillel. This will be Michael's second bar mitzvah. He was bar mitzvah in Israel in a ceremony at Masada this past summer. Michelle Annie Unger of West Bloomfield will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Temple Kol Ami. Michelle is the daughter of Rick and Renee Unger and sister of Brian, Scott, Samantha, Joseph and Emily. Proud grandmothers are Sybil Einstandig and Shirlee Unger. Michelle is also the granddaughter of the late Newton Einstandig and the late Joseph Unger. Michelle is an honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield.
