Shir Tikvah Helps
Less Fortunate

For the seventh year, Congregation
Shir Tikvah plans to help those less
fortunate at Chanuka by donating
gifts for adults and children.
Volunteer Sara Behrmann works
with Jewish Family Service to pro-
-vide Shir Tikvah with 100 names of
people who might otherwise not
receive anything for Chanuka.
Behrmann has developed a system
that features a large menora with
candles" listing the age, gender and
gift preferences, if any, of recipients
(the people remain anonymous to
the congregants). This menora is
taken both to Shabbat services and
the Sunday Family Education pro- -
gram for congregants to select the
number of "candles" they choose to
light. Gifts are returned at designat-
ed times to services or Sunday
school.
This year, the menora will be
taken to services on Saturday, Nov. 6,
and Friday, Nov. 12, and to Sunday
school on Nov. 7 and 14. Chanuka
gifts should be wrapped and delivered
to the temple on Saturday, Nov. 20,
or Sunday, Nov. 21.
