t was a near sweep for Jewish candi-
dates in this week's local elections, as
five incumbents and four challengers
won seats on city councils, and one

mayor was re-elected.

Gerald Naftaly, who ran unopposed for
Oak Park mayor, will keep his seat for anoth-
er two years, while Mayor Pro Tern Michael
Seligson and Raymond Abrams were re-elect-
ed to the city council.
Challenger Barry Brickner and incum-
bent Vicki Barnett won two of three open
seats on the Farmington Hills City Council,
while incumbent Mary White and chal-
lenger Jeffrey Jenks won seats on the
Huntington Woods City Commission. Seth
Chafetz succeeded in his bid for a
Birmingham City Commission seat.
Incumbent Sidney Lantz won a two-year
term, while challenger Jonathan Brateman
won a four-year term on the Southfield City

Council. Joan Seymour lost in her bid for
