Liberal Bias
Astounding

The Jewish News editorials never fail
to astound me with the extent of their
liberal hand-wringing.
Last week's lead editorial ("A Sur-
vey To Reflect Upon," Oct. 29),
concerning some obscure survey
about religious life in the U.S., con-
tains an interesting quote from
Rabbi Eric Yoffie, head of the
Reform movement's Union of Amer-
ican Hebrew Congregations: "In the
final analysis, while we're a people,
with the absence of commitment to
religious life, the Jewish people does
not survive."
Unfortunately, Rabbi Yoffie's
Reform movement is one of the major
culprits in reinforcing the notion that
Jews need have no commitment to
religious life.
Also, unfortunately, Rabbi Yoffie
himself carries some blame for demo-
nizing those Jews for whom religious
commitment is an important aspect of
their lives.
