Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Gabriel Joseph Scharg will become a
bar mitzvah at Havdala services on
Saturday, Oct. 30, at
Temple Israel. He is
the son of Beverly and
Sheldon Scharg and
brother of Jordan and
Brett. Excited grand-
parents are Helen and
Sam Braverman. He is
also the grandson of
the late Ruth and
Hyman Band.
Gabe's most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject involved volunteering at Temple
Israel's Mitzvah Mania. An honor roll
student at Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham, Gabe enjoys snowboard-
ing, skiing, lacrosse, windsurfing, foot-
ball, guitar and piano.

Corey Miles Schiffman will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 30, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue. His proud
family includes parents
Maureen and Leonard
Schiffitian, grandfather
Myron Schiffman and
grandparents Natalie
and Lester Geisman.
Corey is also the
grandson of the late Miles Greenwald,
Bess Schiffman and Harold Golden.
His most meaningful mitzvah project
involved working with JARC. Corey
completed the 13 mitzvot program at
Adat Shalom. He is active in Shoresh at
the synagogue as well as BBYO. Corey
attends Novi Middle School and enjoys
computers, cooking, music and sports,
•especially snowboarding.
Last summer he worked as a volun-
teer CIT at Camp Lakeshore in Novi.
This was also his fifth summer at his
favorite overnight camp, Tamarack.

Abigail Rose Siegel will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Friday,
Oct. 29, at Temple Shir Shalom. Abby
is the daughter of Pat
and Rick Siegel. The
proud grandparents
are Belle and Lee
Siegel of Philadelphia.
An honor student
at West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield
Hills, Abby enjoys
dance and skiing.
Her mitzvah projects included volun-
teering at a local nursing home and
collecting food for the homeless.

Alex Smolinski celebrated his bar
mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 2, at
Congregation Shir
Tikvah. Alex is the son
of Bob and Shelly
Smolinski and the
brother of Erin
Smolinski.
Grandparents are
Alvin and Ethel
Kramer of San Diego
and Marvin and Pat
Smolinski of Troy.
Alex is an eighth-grade honor student
at Boulan Middle School in Troy. He
enjoys sports. His mitzvah projects
included weekly volunteer work at
Wynwood senior home and walking for
Focus:Hope.

Sara Spalter was called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 23,
at Temple Kol Ami.
She is the daughter of
Betsy and Ron
Spalter, sister of
Alison and Emily, and
granddaughter of Sue
and Bud Kline and
Gerrie and the late
Mike Spatter.
Sara is a seventh-
grade honor student
at Warner Middle School in Farmington
Hills. She enjoys dancing, reading and
gymnastics. Sara's mitzvah projects
included dancing for the residents of
Fleischman Residence, visiting the resi-
dents of Menorah House and serving
dinners at a homeless shelter.

Rana Hope Sussman will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Oct. 30, at
Congregation Beth
Abraham Hillel
Moses. She is the
daughter of Judy and
Arnie Sussman and
the sister of Lara and
Erin. Proud grand-
parents are Ruth and
Leo Fisher and Rita
Sussman. She is also the granddaughter
of the late Irving Sussman.
Ilana is an honor student at Hillel
Day School in Farmington Hills. Her
most meaningful mitzvah project was
volunteering at Menorah House. Ilana
enjoys tap dancing, spending time with
friends and going to Camp Young
Judaea.

Jaimee Wine of West Bloomfield will
be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
