Promotions, Retirements
The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit is announcing
staff promotions and two retirements,
including Executive Vice President
and Development Director Mort
Plotnick.
Assistant Director Leslie Bash was
promoted to associate executive direc-
tor. She has been at the center for
eight years, serving as a managing
director of the JCC's Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building in Oak Park. She
will continue to provide supervision
of the JPM Building and add board.

Margo Weitzer will assume the
title of assistant executive director.
Previously director of programming,
she has been at the JCC for 10
years. She supervises social services,
Jewish education and cultural arts
and early childhood education at the
JCC's D. Dan & Betty Kahn
Building in West Bloomfield. Her
new position includes grants devel-
opment and functions related to the
day-to-day operations of the Kahn
Building.
Program Director Stuart Wachs
will become an assistant executive
director. He is in charge of recre-
ation-related departments in the
Kahn Building and will take over the
supervision of the JCC Summer Day
Camps, youth services and agency
security. He has been at the JCC for
three years.
Nevin Kanner, assistant develop-
ment director, has begun the transi-
tion to director of development. He
has served as assistant development
director for two years and will assume
his new duties upon Plotnick's retire-
ment.
Plotnick will retire as develop-
ment director at the end of 1999.
He has served the agency and the
Jewish community at large for 50
years in various capacities.
Following his retirement from the
JCC, he will serve as a fund-raising
consultant.
Jerry "J.C." Carpenter has been
promoted to building supervisor, a
post he will assume in spring. He is
now assistant building supervisor.
He joined the JCC staff nine years
ago.
Jerry Schoener has been with the
JCC for 22 years as building supervi-
sor, a post he will retire from in the
spring.
