The photo that accompanied the
Real Estate Reflections caption on
page 50 of the Oct. 15 issue was

To clarify the quotation by Rabbi
Lee Buckman, head of the Jewish
Academy of Metropolitan Detroit,
in the Oct. 22 issue, we are sup-
plying the relevant passage from
the school's vision statement:
"The Academy understands that
the teenage years are a time of
questioning, challenging and
doubting. A Jewish day high
school education addresses these
issues from the perspective of a
centuries-old tradition, and not
just from the point of view of cur-
rent popular trends."

We provide them with activities in math, reading, science and music. And since young
children learn best through hands-on-experience, it's a good idea to involve their feet, too.

Steinhardt, the legendary Wall
Street hedge fund manager, has devot-
ed his philanthropic efforts toward the
causes of the Jewish world. These have
included the Israel Museum, Hillel and
its Steinhardt Jewish Campus Service
Corps and the creation of the Jewish
Life Network (JLN). Among JLN's
achievements has been the Partnership
for Excellence in Jewish Education, in
which Steinhardt spearheaded an effort
that successfully recruited 12 major
Jewish philanthropists who joined
together to expand day school oppor-
tunities for children in North America.
Most recently, he and Charles
Bronfman launched the Birthright
Israel initiative to send young people
on free trips to Israel.
Steinhardt, in partnership with
Lipsky, is co-owner of the English-lan-

Lipsky has an extensive and storied
career in journalism, including stints
as managing editor of the Asian Wall
Street Journal, foreign editor of the
Journal and a member of its editorial
board. Lipsky departed the Journal in
1990 to start the English-language
