Mr. Sorkowitz was the owner of
Lawton Die Cast, Sta-Brite Plating
Company and Marda Construction. He
was also an attorney and a commercial
and residential builder.
Mr. Sorkowitz was a member of Beth
Achim and a board member of the
Yiddish Book Center, a member of Adat
Shalom Synagogue, Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and a member of the
Bloch Lodge of B'nai B'rith. He volun-
teered with the Special Olympics, Sinai
Hospital, Meals on Wheels and helped
fund the Friedman Yiddish Teachers
Chair at Bar Ilan University.
Mr. Sorkowitz is survived by his wife,
Betty Sorkowitz; daughters and sons-in-
law Julie and Dr. Douglas Shiffman of
Farmington Hills, Janet and Dr. Allan
Jacobs of West Bloomfield; grandchildren
Jodie and Jeffrey Shiffman, Carolyn and
Renee Jacobs; mother-in-law Sarah
Friedman.
He was the dear son-in-law of the late
Morris Friedman.
Interment was at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may be
made to the American Heart Association
and the American Diabetes Foundation.

MAX STRUMEYER, 87, of Oak Park,
died Oct. 22.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn
Strumeyer; daughter and son-in-law

ANNE WEINGARDEN, 89, of San
Jose, Calif, died Oct. 9.
After leaving Detroit, Mrs.
Weingarden lived in Washington, D.C.,
and Miami. She was a homemaker, active
community volunteer and life member of
Hadassah.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Ronald and Marcia
Weingarden of Miami, Martin and
Margaret Schlissel of San Jose; brother
Isadore Wuntner of Miami; grandchil-
dren Scott and Lorie Weingarden of
Miami, Amy Weingarden of Chicago,
Charles Schlissel of Los Angeles.
Mrs. Weingarden was the beloved wife
of the late Leo Weingarden.
Interment was in Miami.

National Association for Securities
Dealers and a member of Temple Israel.
Mr. Stumacher is survived by his wife,
Judy Stumacher; daughters and son-in-
law Wendy Morin of Wixom, Donna and
Ken Bolda of Commerce Township;
grandchildren Brittany Morin and Jacob
Bolda; mother and stepfather Rose and
Jules Chayt; sister and brother-in-law
Lila and Shel Schein of California.
He was the loving son of the late
Jacob Stumacher.
