TOURS IN 2000
school student-athletes. This year's
recipients are Davita Burkhead-
Weiner and Adam Grant.
Burkhead-Weiner, an alumna of
Andover High School, earned letters
in both swimming and track. She won
five medals for individual events as a
stare qualifier, and participated in the
Maccabi Games four years. As a stu-
dent, she belonged to the National
Honor Society, was an academic All-
American and graduated Phi Beta
Kappa. She now attends Swarthmore
College.
Grant graduated from West
Bloomfield High School, where he
dove competitively for four years and
was ranked 47th nationally. He was
West Bloomfield's diving team captain
and an academic All-American.
Currently, Grant studies and dives at
Harvard University.
In addition, there are three Jewish
News High School Athletes of the Year
to be honored Monday.
Britni Must was a standout at
Cranbrook/Kingswood in field hock-
ey, ice hockey and lacrosse. She was
named to the All-Midwest and All-
State lacrosse teams, and captained
her school's state champion ice hockey
team in 1997. She now plays lacrosse
at the University of California-
Berkeley.
Bradley Jaffe of North
Farmington High School was cap-
tain and three-time conference
champion in tennis. He was selected
to compete in the 1997 Maccabiah
Games in Israel. Jaffe is the 1999
recipient of the Detroit Free Press
Scholar Athlete Award and won the
Michigan High School Tennis
Championships. He is now a stu-
dent athlete at Emory University.
Blake Boesky excelled in wrestling,
baseball and football at Farmington
Harrison. He started on the 1997-98
state championship teams, playing in
the defensive backfield and on offense.
Boesky is now a freshman and
prospective baseball player at Central
Michigan University. ri
The Michigan Jewish Sports
Foundation's Induction Dinner
will take place 6 p.m. Monday,
Nov. 1, at Congregation Shanrey

Tennis Player Goes On Tour
James Elsman, a Birmingham
attorney, represented
Michigan at the U.S. Senior
Olympic Finals tennis tourna-
ment in Orlando, Fla., last
week. Elsman qualified by
winning the state senior sin-
gles title and teamed with Bill
Streng of Orchard Lake to
win the doubles title.
In November, Elsman, 63,
will play for Team USA in
Tokyo at the World Senior
Doubles competition.
