The commission meets regularly and the council members and city staff members attend. We encourage its active participation at city events and often seek its advice in hiring matters. The commission was most helpful recently when our commu- nity resettled several Kosovar families. The commission has established chapters in all of our area high schools, works with the city's diverse business community and routinely reports back to our city council and the Farmington;city council. The commission's work is definitely on rqrget. City council regularly meets with the Farmington school board to discuss issues, such as school safety, racial and cultural diversity, shared facilities, etc. Recently - council passed an ordinance requiring h e el met use by children under 16 when biking, in-line skattn& -' ds teboarding on public roads.
