f your children, or children you
know, are scared, worried or
otherwise upset about handguns
and gun violence, here's a chance
for them to make their feelings
known to our nation's lawmakers.
Children are being asked to write
letters that will be carried to Washing-
ton, D.C., by an anticipated 1,000
East Coast kids participating in a Chil-
dren's March on Thursday, Oct. 28.
The event is sponsored by Workmen's
Circle/Arbeter Ring, a secular nation-
al Jewish organization that offers activ-
ities furthering Jewish culture and
social and economic justice.
Children, ages 7-13, will walk to
the Capitol in Washington, bringing
with them the letters of their peers
from across the nation, written to tell
America: "Stop shooting at us."
Delegations of children will meet
with members of Congress to
demand that they do something
about the proliferation of handguns
and assault weapons.
Organizations endorsing the Chil-
dren's March include: Children's
Defense Fund, Congress of Secular
Jewish Organizations, Stand for
Children, UFT (United Federation of
Teachers-N.Y.).
Children, grandchildren and other
young students and friends who
want to write a letter for the Chil-
dren's March should address it to
their representative or simply "My
Senator" or "My Congressperson."
Have them state how they feel
about weapons and violence
against children.
Mail letters to: Children's March
for Gun Control, c/o The Work-
men's Circle, 45 East 33rd Street,
New York, NY 10016. Send let-
ters via e mail to: RAK@circle.org r7
