Covington, where he is on the
forensics team and has won awards,
Zack plays the trumpet and loves
sports, especially golf, swimming,
basketball, baseball and track and
field. His most meaningful mitzvah
project was collecting used sports
equipment to share with less fortu-
nate children; he also volunteered
for the past three years at the
Temple Israel Labor Day picnic.

Avi Dunn Davidoff will be called to
the Torah on Saturday, Oct. 16, at
Temple Beth El. He
is the big brother of
Kale, son of Margie
Dunn and Mark
Davidoff, the
grandson of Jerry
and Ilene Dunn
and Ron and Rita
Davidoff and the
great-grandson of
Ida Dunn.
An honor student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Avi plays soccer in the spring and
fall and baseball in the summer.
In December, Avi was fortunate
to take a pre-bar mitzvah Federation
family mission to Israel. He partici-
pated in a program interacting with
Israeli b'nai mitzvah students and
their families from Detroit's
Partnership 2000 region in the cen-
tral Galilee.
In the past year, Avi has spent
time on the 1999 Penny Harvest
and Temple Beth El coat drive. He
played with the Temple Beth El Kids
Klez Band at the Danto Family
Health Care Center and Fleischman
Residence, also serving refreshments
to residents. Avi planted flowers and
did spring cleanup for a JARC
home, sorted food at Yad Ezra and
worked at the 1999 Apples and
Honey event.
Avi is looking forward to his bar
mitzvah celebration with his family
and friends at Camp Tamarack,
where he has spent time the last four
summers.

Joshua Seth Greenfield of
Huntington Woods will celebrate his
bar mitzvah at Adat Shalom
Synagogue on Saturday, Oct. 16. He
is the son of Dr. Carol Greenfield
and brother of Lauren and Jessica.
Proud grandmother is Sadie
Greenfield. He is also the grandson

of the late Louis
Greenfield..
Joshua attends
Hillel Day School
in Farmington Hills,
where he is an
honor student and
involved in the
sound and light
crew. Joshua likes music and studies
both violin and piano. His mitzvah
project was volunteering at Yad Ezra,
where he made a tzedaka contribu-
tion. Joshua completed the 13
Mitzvot Program at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.

Scott Howard Germansky will be
called to the Torah
as a bar mitzvah at
Congregation
Beth

Moses on Saturday,
Oct. 16. He is the
son of Evie and
Mike Germansky
and the brother of
Brooke. Proud -
grandparents are Kathy and Norman
Stricof and Evelyn Germansky. He is
alSo the grandson of the late Ben
Kahn an d Harry Germansky.
Scott is an honor student at
Orchard Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield. He enjoys wrestling,
football and playing the piano. His
most meaningful mitzvah project was
entertaining and assisting with resi-
dents at the Fleischman Residence.

Beth Justine Kerwin will become a
bat mitzvah on Friday, Oct. 15, at
Temple Beth El. She
is the daughter of
Dr. and Mrs.
Howard Kerwin and
sister of Joel and
Marla. Her grand-
parents are Mrs.
Angi Riley and Dr.
and Mrs. Paul
Kerwin.
Beth is an honor
student at West Hills Middle School
in Bloomfield Hills. Her interests
include gymnastics, dancing and
singing. A pianist, Beth also compos-
es music and has spent the last two
summers at Interlochen.
For her mitzvah project, she
attended the Lawson Institute and
served at a local soup kitchen.

Rebecca Lauren Kowalsky was
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Sunday, Oct. 10, during a Rosh
Chodesh service at Congregation
