like a coming together of three agen-
cies. It adds to what we have. It just
gives us greater strenath.'
SMZ‘-traces its origins to the 1929
formation of Simons Michelson by
Leonard Simons (Zieve's late father-
in-law) and Larry Michelson (the
father of Jim Michelson).
Earlier. Simons and Michelson had
worked at the agency owned by
Milton Alexander, the pioneer
Detroit Jewish advertising man. If
there were a family tree of Detroit
Jewish ad agencies, the common root
would be Alexander, whose legacy
still bears fruit today in agencies such
as W.B. Doner and Co., Solomon
Friedman, Stone and Simons, Dennis
Green Advertising, Yaffe & Co., Mars
Advertising and others.
