Commissioned by the Jewish Community Council in commemora- tion of its 60th anniversary as the pub- lic affairs voice of the Jewish commu- nity and sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund, the exhibit traces the relationship between Detroit's Jewish community and the diverse metropoli- tan community since the 1930s. Joe Hines, designer of the Jewish Federation's Centennial Exhibit and principal of Projects, Arts and Ideas, created the exhibit. The exhibit depicts the cooperation among local ethnic and religious groups in their shared struggles against religious and racial discrimination, efforts to preserve religious freedom, advocacy for human rights around the globe and programs for multicultural understanding. Educational materials accompany each panel and are provid- ed to viewers of the exhibit. For information, call the council office, (248) 642-5393.
