Sylvia Gotlib of West Bloomfield
and Carrie Kushner of Bloomfield
Hills will chair the 48th annual
Jewish Book Fair, Nov. 6-14 at the
Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Coinciding with Jewish Book
Month, the fair is being held at
both JCC locations, the D. Dan &
Betty Kahn Building in West
Bloomfield and the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building in Oak Park.
Books by Jewish authors and those
having Jewish content are on display
during the metro Detroit event. It is
the country's largest and oldest
Jewish book fair.
Gotlib and Kushner are both past
book fair co-chairs.
Gotlib is a life member of
Hadassah, a member of Women's
American ORT and a member of
Temple Israel and board member and
boutique chair for its sisterhood.
She's also a volunteer on behalf of
the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer
Institute.
Kushner has co-chaired the adult

study commission at Adat Shalom
Synagogue, where she is a member.
She's also a board member of
Hadassah.
A local author mini-fair will take
place 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7,
in the Janice Charach Epstein
Museum/Gallery of the JCC's Kahn
Building. Local Jewish authors who
have published in the past year, or
books of Jewish content published in
the past year, are eligible for inclu-
sion in the local author book fair.
Celebrity authors speaking during
the book fair will include legal expert
Alan Dershowitz, comedian and TV-
film producer Carl Reiner, '50s
singer Eddie Fisher and best-selling
writers Judith Viorst, Belva Plain,
Howard Fast, Anne Roiphe and
Edward Black.
The event will feature separate
activities for children, men and
women, as well as an Israeli interest
day, music and a cooking demon-
stration.
As always, admission to the Jewish
Book Fair is free.

More than $250, 000 was raised at the State of Israel Bondy women's Division
16th annual Art 6- Home Tour chaired by Linda Hayman and Meryl Podolsky.
Participants, who bought at least $1,500 in Israel Bonds to be eligible for the
tour, viewed the homes of Lois and Judge Avern Cohen, Judy and Irwin Elson
and attended a breakfast meeting at the home of Stephen and Nancy Grand.

Cohen, Judy Elson, Marjorie Krasnick and Meryl Podolsky
